The Minister of Defense of Albania, Pirro Vengu, provided further details on the defense agreement signed on Tuesday between Albania, Kosovo, and Croatia. Vengu highlighted concerns about destabilization efforts in Kosovo’s border area, stressing that these attempts threaten regional security.
According to Vengu, both Albania and allied structures have identified attempts to create destabilizing situations along the border, which could jeopardize peace and order. “Our assessment is that several efforts have been made in the border area to create destabilization and situations threatening the rule of law and security. We must remain highly vigilant and ensure these situations are prevented,” Vengu stated in an interview with Euronews Albania.
He emphasized the need for NATO to increase its vigilance in the region and for KFOR to have more operational instruments and resources available on the ground. Vengu also mentioned the potential hybrid threats that could arise, such as cybercrimes, sabotage, and other destabilizing elements. In response, Albania has urged the Kosovo government to coordinate all actions with KFOR to ensure effective security measures.
This military agreement between Albania, Kosovo, and Croatia is aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and improving security in the face of these growing challenges.
