Anadolu Agency has revised an earlier report concerning an alleged agreement between Kosovo and the Turkish defence company CANiK (Samsun Yurt Savunma) for the arming and equipping of armoured vehicles.
In its original version, published a day earlier, the report stated that the arrangement involved the armament of up to 100 armoured vehicles with remote-controlled weapon systems and 30×113 mm cannons, and included a value of over 50 million US dollars.
That initial version also cited CANiK Board Chairman Zafer Aral, who described the deal as part of a broader modernization project aimed at strengthening Kosovo’s security capabilities.
However, in a later updated version, Anadolu Agency removed the references to the financial value of over 50 million dollars, as well as other numerical contract details included in the original report.

In the revised statements attributed to Zafer Aral, the focus is placed on equipping armoured vehicles with turret systems and 30×113 mm weapon systems, highlighting Turkey’s defence industry and its development of modern and unmanned technologies.
Meanwhile, Kosovo’s Ministry of Defence has denied earlier media reports about a 50 million dollar deal with the Turkish company SYS for the supply of weapons and equipment for 100 armoured vehicles of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF).
Ministry spokesperson Liridona Gashi stated that the signed document is not a procurement contract, but a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) used during a technical evaluation process.
“It is a Non-Disclosure Agreement. It relates to safeguarding information during the technical evaluation process of certain KSF vehicles. There is no supply contract for vehicles, as such agreements are only concluded after assessing the needs and requirements of the KSF,” she said.
