The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Dimal Basha, met today with a Finnish parliamentary delegation consisting of ten members from various parliamentary groups and committees, accompanied by Finland’s Ambassador to Kosovo, Eevamari Laaksonen.

During the meeting, Speaker Basha expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the state of Kosovo for Finland’s long-standing and invaluable support in Kosovo’s journey toward democratic consolidation and state-building.

Focus on European Integration and Serbia’s Obstruction

In discussions that followed, responding to questions from the Finnish MPs, Basha reaffirmed Kosovo’s European perspective and its strong aspirations for membership in international organizations.

“We are a people who believe in Western values — democracy, justice, prosperity, equality, and freedom — upon which our state was built,” said Basha.
“Despite Serbia’s continued obstructive, aggressive, and destructive behavior, our commitment remains firm: to guarantee territorial integrity, ensure citizens’ well-being, and advance on our European integration path,” he added.

Commitment to Rule of Law and Minority Rights

Basha also underlined Kosovo’s commitment to protecting the rights of all communities, highlighting that the country functions as an inclusive society where every citizen, regardless of background, enjoys full constitutional and legal rights.

He further emphasized that Kosovo has undertaken deep institutional reforms, strengthening the rule of law and fighting corruption and organized crime with determination.

“This is confirmed by credible international indices that recognize Kosovo as a country that guarantees freedom of expression and is achieving comprehensive economic progress, clearly demonstrating our orientation toward a European future,” concluded Basha.
