The third meeting in Brussels on the dinar has ended. After the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi of Kosovo spoke, who was part of the meeting as the chief negotiator of Kosovo. He emphasized that in the meeting Kosovo and Serbia had big differences.

Furthermore, Bislimi has shown that Miroslav Lajçak, mediator of the European Union, has drawn up a proposal regarding the issue of the dinar. He had good words for this proposal, calling it constructive.

“This meeting was scheduled with the idea that the parties should reflect, namely the Serbian side requested more time for the reason that they did not have decision-making powers. Last week it became clear to the Serbian side that the next meeting can only be held if they come up with ideas for compromise. Unfortunately, even today we still have big differences”.

“While the Kosovar side discussed the options by which Serbian citizens can receive financial support from Serbia, the Serbian side acted as a lawyer for the Serbian Post Bank and all the time they discussed how to regulate the licensing of this bank, and which is neither the competence nor the interest of the parties involved. Seeing the impossibility of reaching a compromise, Lajcak has put forward a consolidated proposal, which we believe is a constructive proposal and on the right track to find a solution that best suits the Serbian citizens in Kosovo, but in at the same time, it respects the CBK Regulation”, said Bislimi after the meeting.

After the meeting in Brussels, the Serbian side also spoke. Petar Petkovic, chief Serbian negotiator in the dialogue with Kosovo, said that at today’s meeting in Brussels he presented the “balanced proposal” for the solution of the dinar issue.

In his speech, he said that there was no compromise.

“We have reiterated our balanced proposal, which requires a balanced solution. We have another meeting about this, let’s see how things will happen”, Petkovic is quoted as saying, adding according to “Tanjug”, that he expects an invitation for another meeting within 10 days.
