According to Kosovo’s Central Election Commission (CEC), the notification by registered political parties regarding their participation or non-participation in the elections, as well as the formation of coalitions, is a separate process from the certification application for new political entities and the submission of candidate lists for members of parliament.
According to CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi, the deadline for applying for certification of new political entities including coalitions, civic initiatives, and independent candidates began on May 2 and will end on May 10.
Based on the Law on General Elections, political parties are considered automatically certified. Therefore, this process applies only to new political entities, namely coalitions, civic initiatives, and independent candidates.
Meanwhile, according to Elezi, the submission of candidate lists for MPs by political entities — political parties, coalitions, civic initiatives, and independent candidates — also started on May 2 and will conclude on May 12, 2026.
