President Donald Trump doesn’t seem to have any intention of backing down, according to CNN’s analysis of the US’s new trade policies.
The chaos and fear caused by his trade war have only strengthened his belief that the world’s largest economy is a victim of deceitful rivals set on exploiting it.
Trump said on Monday that he is open to trade negotiations with powers such as Japan and Israel. The possibility of early negotiations helped prevent another massive loss in US markets last week.
However, he also threatened to increase tariffs on China by over 100% – a move that could lead to significant price hikes for American buyers on products such as iPhones, computers, and toys.
He also hinted that America’s former allies in the European Union are irreconcilable opponents, with whom a fair deal can never be reached.
