Russian authorities have arrested two more officials from the Ministry of Defense on corruption charges, including Vyacheslav Akhmedov, the director of “Patriot Park” outside Moscow, the Russian Investigative Committee reported on August 5.

The arrests of Akhmedov and Major General Vadim Shesterov are the latest in a series of investigations and detentions of former and current officials of the Russian Ministry of Defense, which some have characterized as a “purge.”

According to the Investigative Committee, Akhmedov and Shesterov, along with “other accomplices,” are accused of embezzling government funds intended for the park.

Patriot Park, a military-themed tourist attraction on the outskirts of Moscow, opened in 2016 and features exhibits related to the Russian military and the Soviet Union’s victory in World War II. Since then, it has expanded to include full-scale war-related propaganda, such as displays of captured military equipment.
