The Director General of the Kosovo Correctional Service (KCS), Ismail Dibrani, met with the Head of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), Antero Lopez, to discuss the institution’s achievements, ongoing developments and plans to further advance Kosovo’s correctional system.
During the meeting, Dibrani briefed Lopez on the work and progress of the Kosovo Correctional Service, highlighting the institution’s continued cooperation with EULEX and other international partners. He said this cooperation has contributed to the professional development of the KCS and helped raise standards across the correctional system.
The officials also discussed several KCS projects and initiatives that have received international recognition.
Among them was the Excellence Award from the International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA) for the project “Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Healthcare,” as well as the KCS project “Art from Prison: Transforming Incarceration into Opportunity,” which was selected among the five best initiatives for the EuroPris Prison Award.
Lopez congratulated the Kosovo Correctional Service on its achievements and praised the institution’s work, describing it as a leader not only in the region but also as an example that could be followed by many European countries.
He also highlighted the importance of Kosovo’s progress in rehabilitation and the reintegration of prisoners into society.
“Today, Kosovo is doing a very good job in returning prisoners to society,” Lopez said.
The meeting underscored the continued cooperation between Kosovo’s correctional authorities and international rule-of-law partners, with rehabilitation and social reintegration remaining key priorities for the correctional system.
