Academician and the first post-war mayor of Pristina, Salih Gashi—an important figure in Kosovo’s academic and political life—has passed away, reports Rks News.
The news of his death was shared by the current mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, who expressed condolences in a public message, emphasizing Gashi’s vital contribution to the development of institutions and the capital during a challenging period.
“With deep sorrow we received the news of the passing of academician Salih Gashi – the first post-war mayor of Prishtina from the ranks of the LDK and professor at the Faculty of Mathematical and Natural Sciences at the University of Pristina,” wrote Rama, extending condolences to Gashi’s family, friends, colleagues, the academic community, and all citizens of Prishtina.
