France has reaffirmed its support for Kosovo’s aspirations to join the Council of Europe, with French Minister Delegate for Europe Benjamin Haddad pledging that Paris will work alongside Pristina to secure the country’s membership as soon as possible.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Kosovo’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Glauk Konjufca, following their meeting in Pristina, Haddad said his visit reflects the long-standing friendship between France and Kosovo and aims to further strengthen bilateral relations.
“I am delighted to be in Pristina today as a personal friend of Kosovo and as a representative of President Emmanuel Macron. Beyond our friendship, the relationship between France and Kosovo is long-standing. Our support has always been steadfast, and I have considered myself a friend of Kosovo for many years,” Haddad said.
The French minister also highlighted Paris’ willingness to expand its cooperation with Kosovo through additional financial support across various sectors.
“We are ready to provide financial support to Kosovo in other areas as well,” he stated.
Addressing Kosovo’s European integration efforts, Haddad confirmed that the country’s bid to join the Council of Europe was among the key topics discussed with Kosovo’s leadership.
“We will work together so that Kosovo becomes a member of the Council of Europe as soon as possible,” Haddad said, reaffirming France’s commitment to supporting Kosovo’s European path.
His remarks underline France’s continued backing for Kosovo’s integration into European institutions and signal closer cooperation between the two countries on political, institutional, and development issues.
