The Government of Kosovo is expected to decide today on allocating funds for the reconstruction of a damaged bridge in the municipality of Drenas, which collapsed on January 17, 2026, following flooding caused by heavy rainfall.
The bridge, which connects residents of the area with other parts of the municipality, has remained unrepaired for more than eight months after its collapse.
The bridge collapsed during the election campaign. According to local residents, promises from the Municipality of Drenas and the Ministry of Infrastructure followed after the elections.
On July 1, 2026, Infrastructure Minister Dimal Basha and Drenas Mayor Ramiz Lladrovci signed a cooperation memorandum under which the Ministry committed to financing the bridge reconstruction project.
The decision expected today is seen as an important step toward unlocking the project. Residents are now waiting for the allocation of funds to be followed by concrete construction work on the ground.
