Italy is ready to send additional troops to Kosovo.

In addition to the 850 soldiers sent to KFOR, the Italian army can strengthen its position up to 1550 troops.

This is what the Operational Commander of the Joint Forces Summit (COVI), General of the Italian Army Corps, Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, said.

“In Kosovo, we play the role of the primary actor, with a deployed contingent of about 850 people that can reach 1,550 units in case of need (as happened, for example, at the end of last year with the deployment of the standby reserve force in battalion level – NATO Operational Reserve Forces Battalion – ORF) and where, in addition, from next October we will again take over the Operation Command ‘NATO Force in Kosovo (KFOR)’ in which we currently hold the position of the deputy commander”, said the General of the Italian Army Corps, Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, reports “Perseone”, broadcasts Klankosova.tv.

He said that Italy’s commitment to support the stabilization of the Balkans will continue this year to prevent the escalation of regional crises and to curb ongoing tensions.

Among other things, the head of the Joint Operations Command responsible for all Italian missions abroad, said that his country will also continue to provide, “where required, specialized Carabinieri units for the EU’s civilian mission “The Mission of the European Union for the Rule of Law” in Kosovo (EULEX Kosovo), which we are the leader of.

For the first time, the Italian general gave information about the training of the Ukrainian army conducted by Italian instructors developed in Italy, on Belgian, German and Polish bases. According to the Italian general, about 1,420 Kiev soldiers have been trained in Italy.
