KFOR has reacted to the attack on the Ibër-Lepenc water canal, condemning it strongly and emphasizing the importance of verifying the facts and holding those responsible accountable.
“NATO’s mission, KFOR, strongly condemns the attack on the water pipeline in Zubin Potok, which had a severe impact on water and electricity supply in northern Kosovo. It is important to verify the facts and ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable and brought to justice,” KFOR stated.
KFOR also mentioned that it had provided security at the site and surrounding areas, and assisted with the logistical disposal of explosive devices, as well as supporting Kosovo’s institutions.
“Since last night, KFOR personnel have provided security at the water pipeline and surrounding areas; furthermore, KFOR has assisted with the logistical disposal of explosive devices and provided engineering support to the institutions of Kosovo.”
Meanwhile, KFOR reiterated that it continues to fulfill its mandate—based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999—to contribute to a safe environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo, and to ensure freedom of movement at all times and in an impartial manner.
“KFOR works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and EULEX (the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo), in their respective roles as security responders.”
