Alongside the flag of the Republic of Kosovo, the flag of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) will also be displayed at the main entrances of schools across the capital.
The request was made by Arianit Elshani, Director of Education in Pristina, who instructed all public educational institutions in the capital to implement the measure.
In an official letter addressed to school principals, Elshani emphasized that the KLA is an inseparable part of Kosovo’s history of liberation and that its war and sacrifices for the country’s freedom represent an important chapter in Kosovo’s modern history.
He noted that educational institutions are not merely places where students acquire knowledge, but also spaces where the historical and civic memory of younger generations is shaped.
“ The freedom we enjoy today has a history. And that history must be remembered, respected, and passed on to future generations,” the letter states.
The Directorate of Education has requested that the KLA flag be displayed in a dignified and uniform manner across all public educational institutions in the capital.
