Kosovo and Albania have taken another step toward closer cooperation on European integration, holding a joint workshop in Tirana aimed at strengthening institutional preparations for future European Union accession processes.

The workshop was opened by Kosovo’s Chief Negotiator with the European Union, Jeton Zulfaj, and Albania’s Minister of State and Chief Negotiator with the EU, Majlinda Dhuka.

According to officials, the full-day event stems from an agreement reached during the first meeting between the two chief negotiators on April 20, aimed at deepening cooperation in the field of European integration.

Discussions focused on key stages of the EU accession process, including preparations for the European Commission questionnaire, the screening phase, and the establishment of inter-institutional negotiating structures.

Kosovo is seeking to obtain EU candidate status and eventually open accession negotiations with the European Union. As part of this objective, Kosovo’s institutions are undertaking early preparations to ensure they can respond quickly, effectively, and in a coordinated manner once formal accession steps begin.

Officials emphasized that Albania’s ongoing experience in EU membership negotiations provides valuable expertise that can help Kosovo build the institutional structures necessary for one of the most complex and demanding political processes in Europe.

During the meeting, Zulfaj congratulated Dhuka and her team for their work in Albania’s EU negotiation process and expressed gratitude for Tirana’s willingness to share its experience and knowledge with Kosovo’s institutions.

The workshop reflects the growing strategic cooperation between Kosovo and Albania as both countries pursue closer integration with European and Euro-Atlantic structures.
