Kosovo has officially become a supporting state of the “Code of Practice for States” under the global Pall Mall Process, a key international initiative led by the United Kingdom and France. This initiative aims to promote accountability and transparency in the use of cyber technologies.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti made the announcement via a Facebook statement, describing Kosovo’s participation as a step forward in the country’s commitment to protecting human rights, national security, and international order in the digital age.

Kosovo’s Commitment to International Digital Responsibility

“With the support of this Code, Kosovo joins a growing coalition of democratic nations working to ensure that cyber tools are used in accordance with international law and human rights standards,” said Kurti.

The Pall Mall Process is a joint initiative by the Governments of the United Kingdom and France, launched in February of last year. It unites democratic countries dedicated to addressing the spread and irresponsible use of commercial cyber-interference capabilities.

The Code of Practice for States

The Code of Practice for States, officially presented on April 3–4 during the Second Pall Mall Process Meeting in Paris, aims to curb the irresponsible use of commercial cyber-interference technologies, which are increasingly posing threats to privacy and global security.

This Code outlines guiding principles to enhance transparency, accountability, and oversight, promoting responsible state behavior in cyberspace.

Strengthening Kosovo’s Position on the Global Stage

Kosovo’s participation in the Pall Mall Process aligns it with countries that promote the ethical and legal use of technology, further strengthening its international position as a trusted and democratic partner.
