Institutions in Kosovo have taken concrete steps toward participation in international security missions, following an agreement signed under the “Board of Peace” international initiative.

The Parliamentary Committee on Security and Defense unanimously voted to forward to the Assembly the Government’s decision on deploying members of the Kosovo Security Force (Kosovo Security Force) abroad, as part of an International Stabilization Force in Gaza.

The agreement is expected to be reviewed and approved in a plenary session, marking what would become the first deployment of this kind for the Kosovo Security Force.

According to a document obtained by Front Online, the mission forms part of an international peacekeeping operation in Gaza, where FSK personnel would serve in a supporting and stabilization role under a broader plan for ending the conflict.

The document states that FSK troops would operate under the authority of an international command structure and follow its established rules of engagement, while Kosovo would retain legal jurisdiction over its personnel for disciplinary and legal matters.

It also notes that the size of the contingent may change depending on operational needs, though the initial deployment is expected to include around 22 soldiers. The costs of the mission will be covered by the state budget of Kosovo.

The development marks a significant step in Kosovo’s growing participation in international security and peace-support operations.
