Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met today with Italy’s Ambassador to Kosovo, Maurizio Antonini, to discuss the formation of Kosovo’s institutions and bilateral cooperation.

Kurti briefed Antonini on the September 16 verdict in The Hague against former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) leaders, as well as Kosovo’s European integration process, IndeksOnline reports.

“We are grateful to Italy for its support and its overall contribution to the development of our Republic, as well as to security and stability in Kosovo and the region. We aim to expand cooperation across all sectors of mutual interest, including sports,” Kurti wrote.

Here is his full statement:

The completion of the process of forming and making the institutions operational marks a return to a full focus on the government’s work programme and development plans. This was precisely what I discussed during my meeting with the Italian Ambassador, Maurizio Antonini, who congratulated me on the election of the president.

Alongside current developments, including the September 16 verdict in The Hague against former KLA leaders, we discussed Kosovo’s European integration process, Italy’s role, and the importance of its support in advancing Kosovo’s status to that of a candidate country for European Union membership.

We are grateful to Italy for its support and its overall contribution to the development of our Republic, as well as to security and stability in Kosovo and the region. We aim to expand cooperation across all sectors of mutual interest, including sports.
