Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said he met with members of the Kosovo diaspora, U.S. investors and American political figures during an event in Westchester, New York, to discuss opportunities for increased U.S. investment in Kosovo.
Kurti said the event focused on “concrete opportunities and ways for American investments in Kosovo,” as well as the role the Kosovo diaspora can play in facilitating stronger economic ties between the two countries.
“For decades, the scale of support and the role of our diaspora in the United States, as well as of our compatriots around the world, have been vital to our well-being as citizens and to Kosovo’s success in its struggle for freedom and its efforts to build a state,” Kurti wrote in a Facebook post.
He said that Kosovo’s development as an independent, sovereign and democratic state now provides new opportunities for members of the diaspora to contribute through investment.
“The Republic of Kosovo, an independent, sovereign, democratic state with sustainable development, offers excellent opportunities for investment,” Kurti said.
According to the prime minister, members of the diaspora can now contribute to Kosovo’s development through business investment rather than relying primarily on financial support.
“At the event organized with Data4X and Ed and Barbara Hammel at the residence of Richard Lukaj in Westchester, together with compatriots, as well as American investors and politicians, including former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin, we discussed concrete opportunities and ways for American investment in Kosovo and the facilitating role of our diaspora in this regard,” Kurti said.
He added that Kosovo should be viewed as a reliable partner capable of providing support to investors interested in establishing or expanding business activities in the country.
