Prime Minister Albin Kurti met today with the Mayor of Zveçan, Ilir Peci, who is from the ranks of the PDK, as well as the Deputy Mayor, Natasa Tomanić.
This meeting is part of a series of meetings with northern municipal leaders, and as usual, present were also the Minister of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi, the Minister for Communities and Return, Nenad Rashiq, and municipal directors. The regular weekly meetings between municipal leaders and citizens of all communities were highlighted, showcasing a good level of cooperation between institutions and citizens. Supportive measures by the municipality for residents in the field of agriculture were noted, from which most beneficiaries come from the Serbian community, as well as employment measures supported by the Government, which have so far resulted in the employment of 80 citizens, and the close cooperation of the municipality with the Ministry of Local Government Administration.
During the meeting, it was also discussed the inherited challenges in the municipality, “the need for public investments in expanding, functionalizing, and improving the water supply network, especially in the more remote villages of the municipality, infrastructure, and public lighting, which would increase public safety.”
The importance of preparing and approving the municipal budget according to the deadlines of the Budget Circular of the Ministry of Finance, Labour, and Transfers was emphasized, so that the budget for current and new projects is reflected in the Budget Allocation Law for 2025.
Prime Minister Kurti thanked Mayor Peci and the municipal directors for their daily work, commitment to improving services and the well-being of citizens without distinction, as well as for “good cooperation with central institutions.”
