The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, paid tribute today in Zhazha in memory and honor of the Albanian civilians killed in the Zhazha massacre.
Twenty-six years ago, police forces executed unarmed and defenseless Albanian civilians, including a minor, Fidan Peci, who was only 16 years old. Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Peci, accompanied by MPs from the Assembly, laid fresh flowers at the memorial erected in honor of the civilian victims and four martyrs from the area who fell during the liberation war.
After the tribute in Zhazha, they proceeded to the village of Boletin in the Municipality of Zvečan, where they visited the Isa Boletini Towers Complex and placed flowers on the grave of national hero Isa Boletini.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports has launched two programs for this important complex for the Albanian people: a professional curation of the permanent museum exhibition and its functional activation through regular management and cultural activities.
In the impressions book, Prime Minister Kurti wrote:
“At Isa Boletini’s Towers, the history of Albanians was both learned and defended – and it is here that history was made and Albanians were elevated. Every generation must return here to learn, defend, and act, in order to move forward. Glory to Isa Boletini and his fighters.”
