Prime Minister Albin Kurti has once again addressed the attack that occurred in Varagë, Zubin Potok.
Kurti stated, “In the north, we are hindered because our army cannot go there due to a commitment made by former Prime Minister Thaçi.”
“The Ibër-Lepenc canal spans over 50 kilometers, making it extremely difficult to monitor and oversee it 24/7 along its entire length. This is not about 50 meters but over 50 kilometers. In northern Kosovo, we are disadvantaged since our army, following the commitment made by former Prime Minister Thaçi in 2013, cannot operate north of the Ibër River. This makes the situation there different from other parts of our country,” Kurti explained during a press conference.
“We respect the letter of my predecessor, even though I neither welcomed it nor liked it, but we respect it. In the north, we have KFOR and the Kosovo Police. Would it be better and safer if the Kosovo Army were present? Yes, but we honor that prior commitment,” he added.
“Such attacks also occur in Western democratic countries, perhaps even more than here. But the terrorist-criminal imagination, sponsored by a state larger than ours and with a long and extensive tradition of such attacks—one closely allied with the Russian Federation—has led to the situation we are in,” Kurti stated.
He further remarked that Serbia exhibits frustration, saying, “Since they no longer control northern Kosovo, they want to convey the message: ‘We won’t leave you in peace.’”
