The emissary of the EU, Miroslav Lajcak, has made the routine summary of a week of work with the issues of the Western Balkans, which he started with a visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Regarding last week’s technical level meeting between Kosovo and Serbia, Lajcak said that it helped to narrow the gap between the parties on the “issue of the dinar”.
Lajcak also announced another meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi and Serbian chief negotiator Petar Petkovic.
He said that he expects concrete proposals from the parties that move the issue forward.
“From Bosnia, I returned to Brussels for the continuation of the efforts of Kosovo and Serbia to find a middle ground regarding the so-called “issue of the dinar”. We discussed a possible temporary solution for the citizens affected by the decision of the Central Bank of Kosovo on operating with cash, and I believe we succeeded in narrowing the gap. At the same time, some differences remain and for this reason I will again host the two chief negotiators in Brussels and I expect that our talks will be based on very concrete ideas, which would enable us to move forward in the interest of the people”, wrote Lajçak .
He also mentioned his participation in the first edition of the “Friends of the Balkans” conference in Slovenia, which was organized by the institute of the former Slovenian president, Borut Pahor, who is targeting Lajcak’s position after the end of his mandate in August.
