Internationals have been alarmed by the statement of Aleksandar Vucic a day earlier, as well as his continuous behavior regarding Kosovo.

The Serbian President went as far as asking the internationals to choose sides, with Pristina or with Belgrade, even threatening war.

Following this statement, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of the United Kingdom discussed the situation in Kosovo on Tuesday. Likewise, there were discussions about the elections in Serbia, Vucic’s nationalist agenda, and the Serbia-Russia relations.

In his speech, the former Secretary-General of NATO, George Robertson, said that the only way to persuade Serbia is “violence”. “Being tough on Serbia pays off,” adding that people in this part of the world only respect force.

However, British MP, Alicia Kearns, interrupted Robertson, saying there is no example in which Britain has shown force in the last four years.

Robertson replied: “That’s what we need to do.”

Meanwhile, the former UK Ambassador to Kosovo, Ian Cliff, speaking about the Banjska attack, said that Britain should ask its friends in the European Union about what they have done with the report of the Kosovo government on the terrorist attack by the armed Serbian group.

“It was submitted to Brussels in January, here we are in mid-March. What are they doing about it?”, asked Cliff.

Meanwhile, today, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the German Bundestag, Michael Roth, made a strong reaction.

He spoke about Vucic’s threat a day earlier, sending a clear message to the Serbian president.

“President Vucic misunderstood something. The perspective of EU membership applies not only to Serbia but to all Western Balkan states, including Kosovo. There is no such thing as ‘either Kosovo or the European Union’. But, Vucic is right, with him in charge, there is no way for Serbia to join the EU,” said Roth.

It’s worth noting that, Vucic was the one who congratulated Putin on his victory, while also complaining about Kosovo.
