Today marks 25 years since the massacre on the night of February 3 and 4 in northern Mitrovica.
The ‘Bridge Guards’ killed ten Albanians, including children, women, and the elderly.
Many others were wounded, while around 12,000 Albanians were forcibly displaced, crossing to the southern part of the city, leaving their homes behind in flames.
On the night between February 3 and 4, Nezir and Shqipe Voca, Niman Sejdiu, Bashkim Rrukeci, Sebiha Abrashi, Selime Berisha, Muharrem Sokoli, Nderim Ajeti, Nerimane Xhaka, and Remzije Canhasi were killed.
According to witnesses, the operation was led by the Serbian Ministry of Interior, with former commander Dragan Delibashiq, Oliver Ivanović, and others at the helm.
In 2014, the Basic Court in Mitrovica found Ivanović guilty and sentenced him to nine years in prison for war crimes against Albanians during and after the Kosovo war.
