A powerful typhoon has struck China, becoming the second major storm to hit the country within just one week.

Typhoon Bavi first made landfall near the coastal city of Taizhou before moving on to Wenzhou, bringing torrential rainfall and powerful winds. According to reports, the storm spanned approximately 1,000 kilometers.

Chinese authorities have evacuated more than 1.7 million people from areas considered to be at the highest risk. Schools, workplaces, and outdoor activities have also been suspended as a precaution.

Hundreds of flights have been canceled, while several railway services have been disrupted due to severe weather conditions.

Although the typhoon has weakened and has now been downgraded to a strong tropical storm, meteorologists warn that heavy rainfall continues to pose a significant risk of flooding and landslides.

Earlier, the storm also caused damage in Japan and Taiwan, while in the Philippines, landslides triggered by heavy rainfall claimed the lives of at least 17 people.
