Democratic Party of Kosovo held its regular Presidency meeting today, with discussions focused on preparations for internal party elections at all organizational levels, from local branches to the election of the party chairman.
According to a party statement, PDK leader Bedri Hamza stressed the importance of conducting a fair and transparent process that meets high democratic standards.
“Bedri Hamza emphasized the importance of a correct and transparent process, guaranteeing high democratic standards at every stage,” the statement said.
As part of the preparations, the Presidency decided to establish a working group that will oversee the technical and legal aspects of organizing the elections.
The group will be responsible for coordinating the process, ensuring its proper conduct, and developing the overall strategy so that the elections are held in a regular, orderly, and fair manner.
According to the decision of the Presidency, the internal election process is expected to begin in September, allowing party structures sufficient time to prepare.
The party leadership reaffirmed its commitment to a democratic, representative, and transparent process in line with PDK’s political traditions and organizational standards.
Political Significance
These will be the first internal elections since Bedri Hamza assumed leadership of the party. The process is expected to shape PDK’s organizational structure following the June 2026 parliamentary elections, in which the party emerged as the second-largest political force in Kosovo with 22 seats in the Assembly.
The elections will determine leadership positions across local branches, regional structures, and ultimately the party’s top leadership.
