Masoud Pezeshkian told Emmanuel Macron that Iran remains committed to negotiations, but only within the framework of international law.
During a phone call on Monday, Pezeshkian said that what he described as “unreasonable demands” from the United States had blocked progress in recent talks between Washington and Tehran held over the weekend in Pakistan.
“We have clearly stated the conditions for a ceasefire and remain committed to them. Excessive demands from the U.S. prevented an agreement… Iran will continue negotiations only within the framework of international law,” he said, according to Iranian media.
He also warned that threats by Donald Trump regarding the Strait of Hormuz could have wide-ranging global consequences.
