Prime Minister Edi Rama has spoken about the negotiations with the European Union.

Rama stated that Albania will have the chance to join the EU, and Albanians will be able to travel with EU passports if his government wins a fourth mandate in the May 11th elections.

Responding to followers who asked why this hasn’t been achieved earlier, Rama explained that although Albania started the negotiation process with the EU much later than its neighbors, it has now advanced and is closer to membership than they are.

“First of all, more than a personal victory for me or the Socialist Party, it’s a victory for everyone. Joining the European Union is a win for all. Do you know when Montenegro started its negotiations? In 2012, we started last year. Serbia started its negotiations in 2014. Do you know where Serbia is today and where we are in the negotiation process? We are ahead. Do you know when North Macedonia was made a candidate for the EU, in 2005, 20 years ago? It still hasn’t opened negotiations,” said Rama.
