A massive Russian missile and drone attack struck Kyiv and surrounding areas overnight, killing at least six people and injuring 33 others, Ukrainian authorities said.

The strikes damaged apartment buildings, warehouses and a children’s hospital, while emergency crews continued searching through the rubble for people who may have been trapped beneath the debris.

Power outages were also reported in several parts of Kyiv following the attack.

The overnight barrage also triggered concern in neighboring NATO countries. A Russian drone reportedly entered Romanian airspace near Galați before crashing in an uninhabited area and causing a small fire.

Poland also activated air-defense operations as a precaution to protect its airspace amid the large-scale Russian attack.

The latest strikes come as Russian attacks on Kyiv have intensified in recent weeks, while Ukraine has simultaneously increased its own missile and drone attacks against targets inside Russia.

The escalation underscores the continuing danger of the war extending beyond the immediate battlefield, particularly as Russian and Ukrainian forces intensify long-range strikes against military, energy and infrastructure targets.
