Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi will remain in detention in The Hague after the Special Court decided to extend the measure for another period.
According to the decision issued on June 10, the court found that the grounds justifying continued detention still exist. The official notice states that the defense did not submit objections regarding the decision.
The prosecution argues that a risk of flight continues to exist, maintaining that Thaçi is fully aware of the charges he faces. The decision also refers to allegations of potential attempts to interfere with judicial proceedings.
Meanwhile, the judge overseeing the case recalled that the deadline for delivering the judgment has been postponed until July 20.
Hashim Thaçi has been in detention since November 2020, when he was arrested following the confirmation of the indictment by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.
