Elisa Spiropali, Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, participated today in the Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of Council of Europe member states, held on March 20-21 in Strasbourg.

In her speech, Spiropali emphasized the importance of strengthening democracy in Albania and the country’s progress toward European Union integration. She noted that Albania has made significant strides in the EU integration process and is a leader in fostering regional cooperation and the EU integration of neighboring countries.

Spiropali also highlighted the need for Kosovo to be admitted to the Council of Europe, stating that the organization is incomplete without the newest European state. She stressed that Kosovo, after 26 years of freedom and 17 years of independence, has built a vibrant democracy and deserves to be included in the Council of Europe.

Furthermore, she reiterated Albania’s unwavering support for Ukraine against Russia’s aggression, framing this as a contribution to peace, security, and the protection of democratic values.
