Following this week’s high-level talks between the U.S. and China in London, U.S. President Donald Trump has declared a trade agreement between the two nations is “done.”

In a post on Truth Social, Trump also proclaimed that relations with China are now “excellent,” despite previously admitting that negotiations with Beijing “were not easy.”

“Our agreement with China is done, just awaiting final approval from President Xi and me,” Trump wrote. “China will supply full magnets and all rare earth minerals that are necessary, right from the start. On our part, we will give China what was agreed, including Chinese students who will use our colleges and universities (which I have always liked!). We will benefit from a 55% tariff, China will have 10%. The relationship is excellent! Thanks for your attention!”

The President’s announcement triggered immediate reactions in economic circles, raising questions about the concrete content of the agreement, the real benefits for each side, and its potential impact on global markets.

This agreement marks a significant turning point in the strained relationship that has impacted the global economy for years.
