U.S. President Donald Trump has proposed that the United States take control of Gaza, stating that Palestinians should leave the territory while the region undergoes redevelopment.

“The U.S. will take Gaza, and we will also do a great job with it,” Trump said during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.

A Controversial Proposal

Trump’s remarks come after previous statements in which he suggested that neighboring Arab countries should accept displaced Palestinians—a proposal that was widely rejected in the region.

When asked about his vision, Trump indicated a long-term ownership plan, saying:
“We will own it and take responsibility for dismantling all unexploded bombs and dangerous weapons in the area.”

He added that economic development in Gaza could create unlimited jobs and housing, even referring to it as “the Middle East Riviera.”

International Reactions

When pressed on whether Palestinians could return in the future, Trump replied:
“Who imagines living there?”
After a follow-up, he added: “The people who live there. The people of the world,” implying that Palestinians could be among them.

Trump’s statements have sparked strong criticism from various lawmakers and international leaders, who reject the idea of U.S. ownership of Gaza.
