The United Kingdom has announced a new package of sanctions targeting Russia, with Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband reaffirming that London will continue supporting Ukraine for as long as necessary.

“Today we are announcing new sanctions against Putin’s war machine, the shadow fleet, oil companies, cryptocurrencies and the financing of the war,” Miliband said.

He stressed that the UK would remain alongside Ukraine for as long as required.

“We are your brothers and sisters in this conflict. And we will be with you for as long as necessary,” Miliband said.

The latest measures target areas that London says contribute to Russia’s war effort, including its so-called shadow fleet, oil companies, cryptocurrency networks and financial channels used to support the war.

The UK has pledged to maintain military support for Ukraine at approximately €3.5 billion annually through 2030–31.

Britain has also trained more than 63,000 Ukrainian military personnel through Operation Interflex. During 2026, London plans to provide Ukraine with around 150,000 drones and 350 air-defense missiles.

The new sanctions are part of the UK’s continued efforts to increase economic pressure on Russia while maintaining military and political support for Ukraine amid the ongoing war.
