Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his gratitude to the United Kingdom following a phone conversation with Prime Minister Keir Starmer, emphasizing the importance of British support during wartime, writes Rks News.
“The support from the United Kingdom truly matters, and we will never forget the respect that the British people have shown for Ukraine and our citizens. Thank you for your support,” he wrote on platform X.
Zelensky also announced a conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, where he highlighted the necessity of “wide representation” from Europe, the United Kingdom, Turkey, and the United States in the peace process.
According to Zelensky, he and Rutte “coordinated our next steps,” adding that strong security guarantees must be a priority.
“We cannot allow Putin to deceive everyone again. Before any possible negotiation, all partners must clearly understand that strong security guarantees are the priority for lasting peace,” he wrote.
Zelensky pointed out that after information about Rutte’s meeting with U.S. envoy Keith Kellogg, their messages aligned with the Ukrainian vision for sustainable peace.
“There must be confidence that after a few months or years, Putin will not return with his war,” he concluded.
