U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of sabotaging the U.S.-Ukraine minerals agreement, calling it “the easiest deal in the world.”
In an interview with journalist Tucker Carlson, published on social media platform X, Bessent claimed that Zelensky lied three times to former President Donald Trump’s administration about his willingness to sign the deal.
According to Bessent, Zelensky first refused to sign the documents during a conference in Munich. Later, on February 28, a disagreement occurred in the Oval Office, and finally, on March 28, Zelensky rejected the draft agreement, claiming it differed from previous versions, Telegrafi reports.
Bessent added that Zelensky’s actions had created a “Grand Canyon-sized gap” between the two sides, emphasizing that the Ukrainian president could have raised his concerns during a private dinner in Washington instead.
