Today, October 16, marks 29 years since the death of national hero Major General Adrian Krasniqi, who was killed in 1997 during a Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA/UÇK) operation against a Serbian police station in Kliçinë, near Peja.
Born on October 11, 1972, Krasniqi is remembered as the first KLA fighter to fall in uniform. He studied at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Prishtina and was involved in the KLA’s earliest organizational cells.
During the liberation struggle, he served as logistics commander at the KLA General Staff level. He was posthumously awarded the rank of major general.
The operation against the Serbian police station in Kliçinë was among the attacks targeting Serbian security structures during Kosovo’s occupation.
Adrian Krasniqi remains remembered for his contribution to Kosovo’s liberation and the sacrifice he made for his country’s freedom.
Eternal glory to Adrian Krasniqi and all those who gave their lives for Kosovo’s freedom.
