Serbian Foreign Minister Thanks India for Its Principled Stance on Not Recognizing Kosovo

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marko Đurić, met on March 25, 2026, with Siby George, the Indian Secretary of State for Western Affairs at the Ministry of External Affairs of India. During the meeting, Đurić expressed gratitude for India’s consistent support for Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its principled position on not recognizing the “unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo”. He emphasized his confidence that India’s position on this matter would remain unchanged.

Đurić highlighted Serbia’s firm commitment to strengthening comprehensive cooperation with India, including intensifying political dialogue and high-level contacts. The Serbian Foreign Ministry noted that regular political consultations between the two countries are an important mechanism for enhancing bilateral relations and provide new impetus for their further development.

The Serbian minister welcomed the recent visit of President Aleksandar Vučić to India, where he participated in the Artificial Intelligence Summit in New Delhi. Đurić stressed that Serbia’s engagement at the summit underlines the country’s strong commitment to advancing developments in technology and innovation, while also showcasing its national potential at the highest level.

He also recalled his recent meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Munich, expressing hope that Jaishankar would soon visit Serbia.

The minister also thanked India for confirming its participation in the specialized international exhibition Expo 2027 in Belgrade, noting that India’s presence would significantly contribute to further strengthening bilateral ties and offer an opportunity to showcase its capabilities to a broader international audience.

Siby George is visiting Serbia as part of the ninth bilateral political consultations between the two ministries, aimed at deepening diplomatic, economic, and technological cooperation between the two nations.
