An eight-year-old boy from the Serbian community in Graçanica municipality has been left out of school, despite his family receiving a new home through a government program. The boy, Gjorgje Trajković, is unable to attend classes at the “Sveti Sava” school, which is located adjacent to his new house.

His mother, Aleksandra Trajković, claims her son has not attended school since 5 March due to alleged pressure and unfair treatment from school officials. She says the situation arose after the family received assistance from the Government of Kosovo to build their home.

“The child hasn’t been going to school since 5 March. The school director, Milan Dimitrijević, has allegedly pressured both me and my son because the government, through the Ministry for Communities and Returns, built our house. This has led to constant stress and threats against us,” Trajković told KosovaPress.

She added that the conflict has escalated to involve the local Social Work Center, forcing her to consider selling the house and leaving the area.

School director Milan Dimitrijević, however, denies all allegations. In a statement to KosovaPress, he said the school never blocked the boy from attending classes and that the mother herself is preventing him from attending. “All claims of obstruction or discrimination are one-sided interpretations that do not reflect reality,” he stated.

The Social Work Center in Graçanica declined to comment on the matter, saying the case is ongoing. As of publication, Gjorgje remains out of school. KosovaPress has contacted the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation for comment but has not yet received a response.
