A significant quantity of weapons was confiscated in Zveçan, as stated by the Police Director.
Gazmend Hoxha, the General Director of the Kosovo Police, held an extraordinary press conference alongside Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Sveçla, where they provided detailed information about the weapons seized near Zveçan.
Hoxha mentioned that based on information received and from the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA), the police station in Zveçan conducted a raid in the vicinity of Zveçan near the Iron Bridge. During the operation, they discovered weapons, military equipment, explosives, and stun grenades. These findings are suspected to have been deliberately left there with the intention of attacking Kosovo’s security institutions and creating an atmosphere of insecurity in the region.
During the press conference, Hoxha showcased the amount of weaponry seized, highlighting the success of the police operation. The confiscated items included 1,588 ammunition or cartridges, 10 long guns, 6 AK-47 machine guns, 62 grenades, explosives, binoculars, radios, silencers, full and empty magazines, masks, bulletproof vests, uniforms of the Serbian army, and 10 uniforms of the Kosovo Police, as well as equipment for drones.
The Director of the Kosovo Police confirmed that the investigation into this case will continue.
In September 2023, a Serbian armed group attacked the Kosovo Police in Banjska, killing Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku.
Three attackers were killed in the exchange of fire.
Kosovo considers the state of Serbia responsible for organizing and carrying out the attack, but Belgrade denies any such thing.
The responsibility for the attack was taken by the former vice-president of the Serbian List, Millan Radoicic.
He is currently believed to be in Serbia, and an international arrest warrant has been issued against him by the International Police Organization (INTERPOL).
The international factor has requested many times that those responsible for the attack face justice.
