So far, Democrats have won 240 seats in the US House of Representatives in the midterm elections. Only 218 seats are needed to secure a majority.
Republicans have won 147 seats. Results in the remaining 48 races have yet to be determined, BBC reports.
Several House seats have flipped from Republicans to Democrats, overturning long-standing voting patterns in Texas, Kansas, Kentucky and other traditionally Republican parts of the country.
