Nancy Pelosi, former Speaker of the House, has called on the cabinet of Donald Trump to invoke the 25th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which allows for the removal of a president deemed unfit for office, The Guardian reports.

“Donald Trump’s instability is clearer and more dangerous than ever,” Pelosi said. “If the cabinet is unwilling to invoke the 25th Amendment and restore reason, Republicans must return to Congress to bring this war to an end.”

So far today, more than 20 Democratic members of Congress have called on Trump’s cabinet to invoke the amendment.

Alarmed by Trump’s threat on Tuesday to eliminate “an entire civilization” in Iran, more than a quarter of Democrats in Congress have called for his removal from office either through impeachment or by his cabinet stripping him of power under the 25th Amendment, according to The New York Times. Many raised concerns about the president’s mental state, saying his social media post threatening widespread civilian destruction was evidence that he is not mentally fit to hold office.
