The US Embassy in Kosovo marked the day when the American mission in Pristina officially became an embassy, 18 years ago on April 8, 2008.

“With Kosovo officially a sovereign state and diplomatic relations established, the next step was to reflect this in our diplomatic presence. On April 8, 2008, the US Mission in Pristina formally changed from a US Office to the US Embassy. The official title became the US Embassy in Pristina,” the embassy posted on Facebook.

This followed the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United States and the Kosovo on February 18, 2008, a day after Kosovo declared independence on February 17, 2008.
