A senior Iranian military commander has warned that commercial shipping in the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Oman could be targeted if the United States continues its naval blockade of Iranian ports and coastal waters.

According to comments reported by international media, the commander stated that if the United States creates “insecurity for Iranian commercial vessels and oil tankers,” Iran would not allow “any imports or exports” to continue through the three strategic maritime corridors.

The warning comes after the United States reportedly imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports earlier this week. U.S. military officials said that no vessels had passed through the restricted zones during the first 24 hours of enforcement.

The escalation adds to growing tensions between Washington and Tehran, as diplomatic efforts continue behind the scenes. A senior U.S. official told the BBC that discussions regarding a potential extension of a ceasefire with Iran are ongoing, while Iranian representatives confirmed that indirect communication channels remain active regarding possible negotiations.

Meanwhile, U.S. political leadership has framed recent developments as part of broader geopolitical pressure efforts in the region.

The situation remains highly volatile, with global attention focused on the potential impact on international oil shipping routes.
