The Assembly of Kosovo held a special session to honor the life and legacy of renowned academic, writer, and literary critic Rexhep Qosja, beginning with a minute of silence.
Qosja passed away on Thursday at the age of 90, his family confirmed. In recognition of his contribution to Albanian literature and intellectual life, April 24 was declared a day of mourning in Kosovo.
His nephew, Valjet Rexhepi, announced on Facebook that Qosja had been laid to rest the same day in a private family ceremony.
“According to the wishes of the deceased, no public reception will be organized by the family. The family will not participate in institutional events. We kindly ask for our privacy to be respected and for us to mourn in peace,” he wrote.
Rexhep Qosja is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Albanian literature and academia, leaving behind a significant intellectual legacy.
