Kosovo’s Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla has reacted following the verdict of the Basic Court in Prishtina, which sentenced former OSCE official Jelena Đukanović to six years in prison for espionage.
In his statement, Sveçla stressed that Kosovo’s security institutions are strongly engaged in detecting and preventing espionage activities that directly threaten national security and the constitutional order of the country.
He stated that Đukanović extracted and distributed sensitive internal documents from Kosovo institutions to various actors in Serbia, describing the actions as a serious breach with potential consequences for state security.
Sveçla added that institutions will continue their fight against such activities without compromise, calling for greater determination in decision-making and stricter accountability in line with the gravity of such offenses.
“No one is above the law, and no action that undermines the security and constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo will be tolerated,” Sveçla said.
