The head of the Albanian National Council, Enkel Rexhepi, has confirmed that a misdemeanor procedure has been initiated against him and the council over the display of the Albanian flag during a commemorative event.

The event was held in Bujanoc in honor of Jonuz Musliu, marking the anniversary of his death. It took place at the city’s House of Culture and was attended as a public memorial gathering.

According to the decision, the violation allegedly occurred because the flag of Albania was placed on stage without also displaying the flag of Serbia, which authorities claim is required under regulations governing public events.

Rexhepi rejected the accusation, stating that the red-and-black flag is not a provocation but a symbol of identity and dignity.

“This is the third time I am summoned for the same issue, while the institution I represent has faced proceedings for the twelfth time over our flag. We will continue to defend our right to use our national symbols with love and determination,” Rexhepi wrote.
