The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that the deadline for submitting candidate lists for Members of Parliament in the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo, scheduled for 7 June 2026, is still ongoing.
According to the CEC, from 2 to 12 May 2026, all political entities political parties, coalitions, civic initiatives, and independent candidates must submit their candidate lists online for certification to participate in the electoral process.
The submission process is being carried out electronically through the CEC platform and the Office for Registration, Certification and Financial Control of Political Entities (ZRCKFSP).
The CEC clarified that registered political parties are automatically considered certified, while the application process applies mainly to new political entities such as coalitions, civic initiatives, and independent candidates, which may apply for certification from 2 to 10 May 2026.
Submitting candidate lists is described as one of the key steps of the electoral process and a requirement for participation in parliamentary elections.
According to the full CEC communication, 7 May 2026 marked the end of the period for registered political parties to notify the CEC whether they will participate in the elections or form coalitions.
During the 7-day period (1–7 May 2026), the CEC received participation notifications from 22 parties, non-participation notices from 9 parties, and the formation of 3 coalitions.
The parties that confirmed participation include major political forces such as the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), and the Self-Determination Movement (LVV), along with several minority and community-based parties.
Meanwhile, several parties announced they will not participate, while others formed coalitions ahead of the elections.
The CEC also emphasized that all applications and submissions are being conducted digitally via its official platform, in line with legal procedures for the upcoming early parliamentary elections.
