Tensions between Israel and Iran have sharply escalated again, after the Israeli military reported that Iran launched a second wave of missiles toward its territory, triggering sirens across the country.

The strikes came following Israeli attacks inside Iran, where explosions were reported in Tehran, Tabriz, and Isfahan. Israel stated that it carried out strikes on Iranian military targets, despite calls from U.S. President Donald Trump for restraint.

The United States has also become involved in the escalation, with Iran accusing Washington of violating a fragile ceasefire. The U.S. military said it shot down six Iranian drones near the Strait of Hormuz and intercepted most of seven ballistic missiles fired toward Kuwait and Bahrain. It also carried out strikes on Iranian radar systems in Goruk and on Qeshm Island.

Meanwhile, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader stated that negotiations with the United States are currently stalled and called for the unfreezing of billions of dollars in Iranian assets.

The situation signals a dangerous widening of the conflict, with multiple regional actors now directly or indirectly involved.
